Coronavirus Timeline

Coronavirus Timeline:

Who was the first person that got Coronavirus?

As some internet sources (like livescience.com) have mentioned, the first Chinese getting this virus came from Hubei province in China. This individual was 55-year-olds on November 17, 2019, when health workers identified the case. However, other online sources like infotagion.com believed this information remained unconfirmed. As a result, they recommended people not to share any ambiguous information about patient zero unless the source got 100 percent certainty.

The virus continued spreading quickly across Chinese regions, so the government tried to trace back the virus’s origin. After that, the Wuhan authority doubted a local wet market originated this virus. It was the Huanan seafood market, where people sold many wild animals like wolves or civets. The authority examined this market and got it closed on January 1, 2020 (zingnews.vn). It seemed like the wet market was lack of organization and sanitization when we look at pictures inside the Huanan market.

The above photos are from zingnews.vn. We could see lots of raw material lies under the ground. Plus, animal blood covers some big areas. Thus, the evidence makes us wonder about the market’s cleanliness and food quality.

The Story of Coronavirus

Name and Meaning of Coronavirus/ COVID-19:

Coronavirus or COVID-19 first appeared in Wuhan, China, during December of 2019. It was highly contagious, making lots of places in China carry out their lockdown. In particular, the word COVID-19 comprises five components: CO, VI, D, and 19. “CO” is Corona; “VI” is a virus; “D” is a disease; and “19” is the time when it started happening (i.e., 2019). Plus, the virus used to be known as “2019-nCoV” or “2019 novel coronavirus”, according to the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC). The timeline is pretty complex, and a countless number of stories continues surrounding this deadly virus throughout the world.

Coronavirus’s Structure:

Firstly, let’s dive into some fundamental knowledge of COVID-19. According to Wikipedia, the virus pertains to a group of RNA viruses that could lead to birds’ and mammals’ diseases. When contacting this virus, humans could experience illness related to their respiratory system and show mild to severe symptoms. Unfortunately, COVID-19 is one of the lethal diseases, along with SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome in 2003) and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome in 2012). Under the scope of Microbiology, the virus looks like a sphere having a radius of 62.5 nm. Its envelope’s diameter is around 85 nm, and surrounding spikes are 20 nm in length.
